Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza is the second son of Baron Hans-Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza and Baroness Fiona Thyssen-Bornemisza, born Campbell-Walter. Lorne’s father was the owner of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Group of companies, which included Thyssen Gas, shipbuilding in Bremen, agri-businesses in Holland and IHS the giant Oil and Gas and Defence Critical Information Provider in the Unites States.

Baron Lorne was born on the 15th/6/1963 in Switzerland and was educated in Switzerland at Le Rosey and in England. He read psychology at Edinburgh University and later Drama at the British American Drama Academy. He worked in New York as a theatre actor and producer in the early 90s and as a producer and director of several films including ‘Labyrinth’ filmed in Lebanon with the Lebanese Army about the Israeli Invasion of 1982 and the war between General Aoun and the Phalangist leader Geagea. It starred Charles Dance and Nabila Khashoggi. He also produces ‘Garden of Eden’ a film based on the autobiography of Hemingway, starring Mena Suvari and Jack Huston.

Lorne later founded Augustus Management SAM, a holding company of investments and businesses including real estate, an agribusiness in Pakistan and a famous Greek Antiquities Gallery in London called Kallos.

He then founded Thyssen Petroleum USA in 2012, an upstream oil and gas exploration company with assets in Louisiana, Texas and Alaska. The company is headquartered in Houston. It is entirely private.

Baron Lorne Thyssen is a noted philanthropist in the U.K. who provides huge endowments to fund scholarships in Classics and supports Roman and other archaeological digs in the Middle East and Turkey at Aphrodisias. The work can be viewed at augustus.foundation. It also provides DPhil Scholarships in Imperial History and Classics at Wolfson College, Oxford and Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

Lorne was also awarded a BA (Honours) in Classics from the Open University and is completing a Master’s thesis in ‘Global Security and Strategic Studies’ at SOAS, University of London. In addition, the Baron is a Member of the Chancellor’s Circle of Benefactors at Oxford University, a Fellow of the Ashmolean Museum, a Fellow of the Royal Numismatic Society and an Honorary Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford.

He is married with one daughter Julia, lives between England and the West Indies, speaks 6 languages and divides his time between business and academia.

Majid Jourabchi serves as Chief Executive Officer of Thyssen Petroleum Inc., where he leads the company’s operations and strategic growth across the U.S. energy sector. With a strong academic foundation — holding a degree in Mathematics and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business — Majid brings analytical precision and business acumen to every aspect of the company’s leadership.

Before joining Thyssen Petroleum, Majid successfully led multiple oil and gas companies operating across the Permian Basin, one of the world’s most prolific energy regions. His extensive executive experience is complemented by his role as an advisor and board member for several publicly traded oil and gas companies, where he contributed to guiding corporate strategy, governance, and operational excellence.

Majid’s leadership is characterized by a focus on sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and fostering innovation in the energy sector.

Muammer Alboamemah is an accomplished petroleum engineer and energy executive with extensive experience in oil and gas exploration and production. Currently serving as the Head of Operations at Thyssen Petroleum, he oversees drilling, workover, completion, and facility management across diverse environments, from the Gulf of America to Alaska’s North Slope.

With a Master’s in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston and an MBA from Texas McCombs School of Business, Muammer combines technical expertise with strategic business acumen. He has held key roles at Schlumberger and Weatherford, leading major drilling and production projects. His deep operational knowledge includes extensive work in Iraq, where he managed multiple fields, optimizing production and implementing advanced engineering solutions. Dedicated to innovation and efficiency, he continues to drive operational excellence and sustainable growth in the energy sector.
